Active for Life

Come along to one of our three health walks that take place in the Devonport area every week and feel the benefits of being more active.

Promoting Active Lifestyles

Active for Life aims to:

  • Provide information, advice and support to people needing to increase their physical activity levels.
  • Educate and support community workers, groups and organisations in the promotion of physical activity.

Active for Life is a joint initiative between Plymouth Guild & Plymouth Teaching Primary Care Trust.

Active Living Motivation Course

This course is targeted at sedentary individuals and those with specific health conditions that would benefit from an increase in physical activity. The course covers education about the benefits of physical activity to health, motivators and barriers to physical activity, accessing information about relevant physical activity opportunities and how to create an individual physical activity plan.

Physical Activity Information Service

This service will provide people with quick access to information about physical activity opportunities in their area. To find out more about opportunities in your area use our Activities Search.

Support for the Development of Health Walks and Activity Groups

Training, support and advice is available to community groups and organisations wishing to set up their own health walks or activity programme.

We now have three group led walks in Devonport.

Delivery of the National Step'o'meter Programme

Active for Life is working with Plymouth Teaching Primary Care Trust and the Countryside Agency to deliver the National Step'o'meter programme which aims to encourage health professionals to use step'o'meters as a motivational tool to get patients more active. If you are interested in using step-o-metres as a motivational aid please get in touch for information.
