Community Activities

Boccia Club

Our Boccia Club runs every Monday starting at 11.30am and finishes at 12.30pm at the Jan Cutting Healthy Living Centre, Scott Business Park. The cost is £2.00 per session and is open for anyone who wants to play Boccia just for fun and brush up on their skills.

Boccia is a boules-type game which is designed for people of all physical abilities. The aim is to get your balls as close to the white 'jack' ball as you can. The balls can be released in a variety of ways depending on the persons ability, balls can be thrown, kicked, pushed off the lap or even released with assistance from a ramp.

Our Wednesday Boccia Club is from 10.30am until 11.30am at the new Plymouth Life Centre, (from 28th March).  This Club is for people who want to play Boccia to the rules and compete with other players. The cost will be £2.00 and there will be another actvity available for people to join in with - details to be confirmed.

Tai Chi

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 3.15pm - 4.15pm at Age Concern, Elspeth Sitters House.  This class is open for anyone to attend and is free!  Call 01752 665424 for more information.

Attik 360 Improvers Dance Class

This class is suitable for adults with disabilities or additional needs, with some experience of dance.  The class is held every Tuesday at Devonport Guildhall from 3pm until 4.30pm and costs £3 per session.  For further information, contact Attik Dance on 01752 395134.

Walking Group

Every Friday morning and afternoon from the National Marine Aquarium.  For more information visit our walks page here.

There are other health walks available in Plymouth which are part of the Step into Nature programme. They provide a variety of walks to suit everyone, from regular beginners walks in local parks to walks with the national trust.

Football Club

We are now running a regular football club for adults with and without disabilities. The club runs every Tuesday from 2pm-3pm at the Nancy Astor Sports Centre, Plymouth University.  The cost is £3.00 per session and is run by a qualified football coach. All abilities are welcome to come along and learn new skills whilst having fun in a friendly environment.

Aqua Aerobics

We are running a new aqua aerobics class for adults at the New Continental Hotel Fitness Suite.  Classes run on Tuesdays from 10.30am - 11.15am and cost £3 per session.  The classes are run by a qualified instructor and flotation devices are provided for participants so you do not need to be able to swim to attend.

Basketball Club

We will be running a weekly basketball club with Plymouth Sports Academy at the new Plymouth Life Centre, starting on Thursday 29th March.  The sessions will run every Thursday from 1pm until 2pm and will cost £3.  The club is initially being run on a 10 week trial.

African Drumming

Sessions are held on the last Wednesday of the month starting from Wednesday 25th January at The Morley Arms, Billacombe Road, Plymouth.  The sessions start at 6.30pm until 8.30pm and cost £5 per session. Green Team

Do you enjoy being outdoors and working with your hands?  If so, why not join Active for Lifes' Green Team on a Thursday.  We will be working with The National Trust at two locations - Plymbridge Woods and Wembury Beach, performing beach cleans, plant control, nature walks, costal walks, outdoor cooking and insect surveys.
