The Government recommendations advocate taking at least thirty minutes of physical activity on at least five days of the week. It does not have to be sport or even an organised activity. You can include walking to work, house work or playing with your children so long as its performed at moderate intensity*.
Recommendation = 5 x 30 minutes of moderate intensity* activity per week.
This can be broken down into shorter sessions of ten or fifteen minutes at first, building up gently to thirty minutes all in one session.
* Moderate intensity is different for everyone. It should make you:
- Breath more heavily.
- Make your heart beat faster
- Make you feel warmer.
