Do you feel you are not getting the care and support you need?
We can help you get your voice heard.
We can help anyone who lives in Plymouth, is over 18 and has a:
- Physical impairment or disability
- Sensory impairment
- Long term health condition
- Mental health issue
An Advocate can work with you to:
- Support you to speak up and get your voice heard or speak up on your behalf
- Help you find out about your rights to services and support and make sure you are being treated fairly
- Help you think about what you need and find information and advice to help you make a good decision for yourself
- Protect your rights
- Refer you to other services
An Advocate can work with you to find help with:
- Benefits and debts
- Social and/or health care services
- Housing
- Work
- Family issues
- Feeling included in the community
There may be something else that is not on the list – please contact us to find out if we can help.
An Advocate can:
- Go to a meeting with you
- Make phone calls
- Help you write letters
An Advocate cannot:
- Give advice
- Provide medical or legal advice
- Provide counselling
- Provide a Befriending service
- Say what they think is best
- Give social support
