Funding & Advocacy

Introduction

Mandy Harvey is the Carers Support Worker within the Disability Information & Advice Centre (DIAC). Her role is to support and advise Carers and provide up to date information on all aspects of being a carer.

Fundraising

Another part of Mandy's role is to fundraise for individuals for equipment and items that the statutory organisations do not provide, for example electric wheelchairs, beds, holidays and other items. Referrals can be made by the individual or third party i.e. Social Services, Occupational Therapists, Support Workers etc. 

Advocacy

Mandy also provides an Advocacy Service for Carers. This service helps Carers with any issues concerning their caring role. Support can be provided to Carers who are having difficulty accessing the support they need from Statutory and other organisations.
