Would you like to be a volunteer for the Hearing and Sight Centre? This is a hugely satisfying thing to do and will make a difference to people's lives, full training is provided.

In the first instance please contact the Volunteer Centre and an advisor will arrange an appointment for you. If the voluntary work you are considering falls into the work carried out at the Hearing and Sight Centre the Volunteer Centre will arrange for you to meet with Julie Williams or Grace Mole at the Hearing and Sight Centre to discuss your volunteering.
Background on the Hearing and Sight Centre
Based at Plymouth Guild, Ernest English House, Buckwell Street, Plymouth PL1 2DA the Hearing and Sight Centre is an information, advice and equipment service for people with a Sight and/or Hearing Impairment. Families, carers, friends, employers and professionals are welcome to use the service. The Centre is open on Monday from 2-5pm and Tuesday-Friday at 9am-1pm and 2pm-5pm.
Work is varied and could include the following:
- Demonstrating equipment
- Giving advice and information
- Assisting hearing aid users
- Support with basic computer skills
- Assisting with independence
- Clerical tasks
Volunteers can work one day per week, half days or just a few hours. Full training will be given and expenses reimbursed.
