Santa by Steam 2010
Thanks to Generations Together, Ridleys was able to take any of those interested to South Devon Railway and to go on a Christmas train ride.
We went up to Buckfastleigh on the 20th of December, a recent snowfall making the setting even more festive. Setting off on the steam train we travelled through the Devon countryside now covered in snow. We were treated to a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie each as the beautiful scenery kept us enthralled. Normally a visit to Santa is just for the kids but given the chance we hurried down the train in order to meet the jolly fellow. After a hug, a pressie and a kiss under the mistletoe for the lucky ones, we were soon to arrive at Totnes.
Having watched the steam engine change ends of the train we were back on our way in short order. To complete the gaiety of the day, Santa and his helpers treated us to some Christmas songs on the journey home.
A good time was had by all and has helped to make this Christmas one to remember.
Ridleys Christmas Disco 2010
Paul and Dave Gregory-Clements from Gala Bingo once again did a fantastic job of fundraising and organising our Christmas disco. We had a record turn out on the 15th of December with many revellers come to join in the celebration.
The evening was kicked off by a couple of rounds of Bingo followed by a raffle with many taking home prizes. The entertainments were all run by the wonderful gala volunteers. A professional photographer was also there to capture the merriment.
After some energetic dancing and a superb buffet all were well content and the evening was a complete success.
Thanks again to all who made this possible and Merry Christmas!!
Summer Dance and BBQ July 9th 2010
Ridleys recently held a Summer Dance and BBQ at Stonehouse Creek Leisure and Social Club. This was part funded by “Valuing People Now” who asked us to provide a Relationships event for adults with Learning Disabilities.
The evening was a huge success and many of the 65 people that attended said they had made new friends through the event.
We had a lovely BBQ on the sundeck to start the evening off followed by a session with Attik Dance, who provided the entertainment through a series of fun, easy to follow dance routines which were then put to music.
We have already been asked by some of those who attended to run a similar event next year and hope to be able to do this. Please click here to see a slideshow of photographs from the evening.
