Swimming with dolphins
My 40th Birthday Portugal Diary – by Sarah
Sunday 26th October
We got up early at 6.30, as today we are off to Portugal. It was pouring with rain. It was a one and a half car trip to Gatwick where we parked the car. At the airport we had sushi and had a soup. We left for Faro at 11.55am and had a two and a half hour trip. It was 1 hour to a nice apartment. It was sunny.
Monday 27th October
We had breakfast in bed with Andrew. After we went to Lagos and looked around. Andrew bought ham and cheese and we had lunch at apartment. We went swimming in the very cold pool and then went on the beach, in the evening we went back to Lagos for dinner and had a spaghetti pizza and carbanara.
Tuesday 28th October
Today is my big day, Andrew gave us breakfast when we went to Guia Zoomarine. We had our photo taken on the way in. I was going to swim with dolphins. I had put ona wetsuit. Sonia gave a talk about dolphins then we went in the pool and it was wonderful birthday present that I got best dream holiday that I dreamed of and its best holiday I ever had. We came back and had champagne.
Wednesday 29th October
We went dolphins watching in a little boat with 6 of us. I was very scared as it was very bumpy and rough and the trip took 1 hour and half hours, 8 miles out. Never again. We came back and had sandwiches and soup then we went for a ride to Sagres and in evening we had piazza and Andrew had curry and we came back and had icecream.
Thursday 30th October
We went to Guia Zoomarine again. I can’t believe it that Andrew and Mum and my sweet lovely brothers and Mum I had again to blame, it was my second time it was wonderful Mum and I had bull ride, We had lunch there so we went shopping so we came home it was raining so hard.
Friday 31st October
We went to Cape Vincent to walk to around the fort. We went to hands on pottery we went to Aljezar all through the mountains for church and stopped for lunch. I had prawns Andrew had fish and sweet corn mum and omelette and salad. We had long ride. Me and Andrew did shopping then came back. I had prawns for Tea.
Saturday 1st November
We went to Lagos, had a look around the big market. We went for a walk on Praia de Luz beach. We came back to the apartment, had lunch and watched the Mexican Grand Prix and saw Lewis Hamilton win. But all shops were shut so had prawn sandwiches again.
Sunday 2nd November
It was a nice day and we went to Burghur where we saw some dolphins near the beach swimming along so stop for drink. We came back for lunch and had a relaxing afternoon and had pasta for dinner. We looked for book marks.
Monday 3rd November
We packed our things as we had to leave Praia de Luz for home. Andrew took us for a long ride to Tavira. We had to return the car and booked into the airport. We left 3.30 and got back to rain, it was 2 hours to Barnet and nice to be home then we had pizza. Later on we went to bed.
