Friends of Titchy Park win £100 Prize
One of Plymouths newest community groups won a £100 cash prize as the first name out of the hat from over a hundred organisations who participated in the Plymouth Change Up Consortium Research undertaken by Lin Whitfield Consultancy.
Since February residents and agencies have been working together to improve Titchy Park in North Prospect. They have formed a group called Friends of Titchy Park which is open to everyone in the area.
Plymouth Change Up Consortium, working with Plymouth 2020, aims to create sustainable and effective voluntary and community sectors (the Third Sector) in the city. To help achieve this, Lin Whitfield Consultancy were commissioned to carry out independent research into the support needs of the Third Sector in Plymouth.
The surveys were all in by the end of December and the research continues until the beginning of February with Focus groups and Stakeholder interviews.
This research is being funded by Capacity Builders (a national programme) to ensure that the right support for the Third Sector is developed in Plymouth. The findings will inform what kind of support is provided in future, including both practical support and strategic engagement. Completing the survey gave organisations the opportunity to shape local support services in the city.
The research findings will be presented at an event in late March/early April 2009 and a summary of the report will be published at the same time to ensure that everyone gets feedback about the outcomes of the survey.
