Guilds' Website Reaches a Wider Audience with BrowseAloud

The Guild has is committed to achieving equality and diversity in all its service provision. The increasing use of our website by our users has led us to look further at how we ensure that it is easily and effectively accessed by everyone, irrespective of their disability. As a result of this work we have enhanced the accessibility of our website by adding BrowseAloud. This allows all web content to be read aloud for those with literacy difficulties, mild visual impairments or dyslexia.
BrowseAloud reads website content aloud in a human sounding voice which can be personalised to suit the visitor's specific requirements. Other features of BrowseAloud include dual colour highlighting which aids comprehension, Talking Dictionary, Text Magnification which helps those with visual impairments and the ability to read secure sites.

George Plenderleith, Guild Director, comments, "BrowseAloud is a positive step in reducing the barriers of accessibility faced by some of our users. We picked BrowseAloud as it was easy to install, minimal effort to manage and had fantastic features that our customers will benefit from".
