Volunteers' Week takes place every year nationwide and here in Plymouth we are taking part in the national celebration to recognise the massive contribution that volunteers make to the City. In 2011 Volunteers' Week takes place on the 1st - 7th June and our big event to recognise Volunteer's Week will take place one week later at the INSPIRING VOLUNTEERING AWARDS 2011.
Inspiring Volunteering Awards 2011
If you know of an individual or a team of volunteers who you feel deserve the recognition that an award brings then you can make a nomination in any of the eight following categories:
Young Volunteer (6-15 & 16-25) sponsored by PCC Youth Service
Turning Point sponsored by the Innovation School
Long Term Commitment to Volunteering sponsored by Plymouth Guild
Sports Volunteer sponsored by Plymouth Hope Football Club
Social Enterprise sponsored by University of Plymouth
Environmental sponsored by Groundwork Southwest
Volunteer Team sponsored by the Plymouth Herald
The deadline for nominations is the 26th April 2011.
The nominees will be invited to a red carpet champagne style awards night at the University's Roland Levinsky building on Wednesday the 15th June. The event will be presided over by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress and will honour volunteers representing organisations and groups across Plymouth for their volunteer work and commitment.
