Laws on Volunteering

This course provides participants with knowledge, practical advice and guidance on volunteering and the law. Participants will gain:
Knowledge of the key areas of law that affect volunteering
A practical approach to health and safety for volunteers
The latest information on volunteers and employment rights
Diversity in Volunteering

This course looks at ways to attract and retain volunteers from diverse backgrounds using material and case studies from GOLDSTAR.
- What is diversity, What is Goldstar and how can it benefit my project
- Practical Advice on engaging diverse groups into volunteering
- An opportunity to discuss the challenges and benefits of a diverse volunteer base for your project
Volunteer Supervision and Support

This training looks at how to give effective supervision in a supportive environment. Participants will gain:
- An understanding of the term supervision and support
- An appreciation of the skills needed to give positive supervision and support
- Solutions to supervising difficult volunteers
Developing a Volunteer Policy

This training cover will cover what needs to be included in your organisation's volunteer policy. Participants will gain:
- Knowledge and understanding of Volunteer Policies and Procedures
- Practical advice on how to develop a Volunteer Policy
- An understanding on why organisations should have a Volunteer Policy
Setting up Employer Supported Volunteering (ESV)
Wednesday 19 November 2008 10.00 – 12.00
Cost VCS £25.00 other £35.00
This course looks at what is involved in setting up Employer Supported Volunteering (EVS) in your organisation. Participants will gain:
- An appreciation of what distinguishes ESV from other forms of volunteering
- Practical advice on what is involved in setting up ESV
- An understanding of the different approaches to ESV
